Based in Tampere, Flamma is a fire performace group that redefines the boundaries between traditional circus and theatre through its shows. Its biggest productions include over 20 fire artists which makes the group, started in 2002, the biggest performing fire troupe in Finland. In addition to traditional fire toys, burning fans, ropes, hula hoops and torches, Flamma has also specially designed equipment and stage sets from stilts to flaming wings and burning sculptures in its repertoire. In addition to playing with fire, Flamma also performs with glowing toys under blacklight.
The group is also known for its fantastic fire theatre shows, which have been staged annually n Tampere. Narrien uni, performed at the Pyynikki Summer Theatre in 2007 and 2008, was declared the cultural event of the year in 2008 by the city of Tampere. The group is connected through the sheer joy of doing things together and a burning desire to create new and never before seen entertainment to great audiences. Flamma has performed all over Finland since 2002 and its' audience has grown into tens of thousands. Besides performing, Flamma also organizes fire spinning workshops for groups, and has taught people in Finland and in London at the International Workshop Festival.
Flamma's parent organization is Firecollective Flamma, whose main objective is to further fire- and light art and to provide equipment and training facilities for its members.
